Description

In May 2015 several digital billboards in the Atlanta metro area were hijacked and used to display the long-running shock image known as 'Goatse'. The billboards were operated by YESCO Outdoor Media and were reachable via internet-exposed remote-management interfaces.

Impact

The billboards were taken offline within hours; no other systems were affected. The incident is widely cited in OT/IoT security training as a small-stakes example of internet-exposed signage being trivially compromised.
