Description

On March 13, 2020, Brno University Hospital — one of the Czech Republic's largest COVID-19 testing centres — was hit by a cyber attack that forced shutdown of the hospital's entire IT network at the height of the pandemic response. The hospital diverted acute patients to other facilities and postponed urgent surgeries.

Impact

Two hospital subsidiaries (Children's Hospital and Maternity Hospital) were also affected. COVID-19 testing was halted for several hours and the hospital reverted to paper-based processes for over 24 hours.
