Description
Radiflow disclosed in February 2018 that a cryptomining payload had been running undetected for several weeks on SCADA servers at a European water utility. The mining process used CPU resources but did not modify treatment logic.
Impact
The utility removed the malware and reported no impact on water service. The case is widely cited as the first publicly disclosed cryptominer infection on operational SCADA infrastructure.
