Description
A former contract programmer at Toyota's manufacturing subsidiary in Kentucky was charged in 2012 with sabotaging supplier-management systems and exfiltrating proprietary data after his contract ended. He uploaded test code intended to disrupt production scheduling and downloaded gigabytes of trade secrets.
Impact
No production outage materialized — the inserted test code was discovered before any disruption — but proprietary supplier and pricing data was confirmed exfiltrated.
